DAY 1: AMSTERDAM
Boarding in Amsterdam at 6.00pm. Welcome drink at the lounge, while meeting the crew. Dinner on board followed by a guided tour of the city on board a river boat.
DAY 2: AMSTERDAM
Full board on board. Optional guided tour of the historic heart of Amsterdam. In the afternoon, optional visit to the Keukenhof gardens (open from mid-March until mid-May). The others month, visit of Volendam and the Zaanse Schans. Free evening or possibility to be transfered in the city center for an optional walk in the Red Light District. Sailing during the night to Nijmegen.
DAY 3: AMSTERDAM - NIJMEGEN (Holland) - KREFELD (3) (Germany)
Full board on board. Free time in Nijmegen or optional visit of the Kröller-Müller Museum (2). This museum is home to the paintings of famous painters (Van Gogh, Picasso...), and modern sculptures. In the afternoon, cruise to Krefeld. Overnight.
DAY 4: KREFELD - COLOGNE - KÖNIGSWINTER
Full board on board. Morning spend cruising to Cologne. In the afternoon, discovery of the old town with our accompanist. Cruise continues to Königswinter. Free evening. Overnight.
DAY 5: KÖNIGSWINTER - RÜDESHEIM
Full board on board. Morning spend sailing along the romantic Rhine Valley. Passing through the legendary Lorelei rock and many castle. Arrival in Rüdesheim. Free time or optional excursion. Free evening in the lively Drosselgasse, world famous for its open-air restaurants and beer taverns. Overnight.
DAY 6: RUDESHEIM - SPEYER or MANNHEIM
Full board on board. Morning spend sailing to Mannheim. In the afternoon, optional excursion by coach to visit Heidelberg, symbol of German Romanticism. Gala evening. Cruise to Strasbourg. Overnight.
DAY 7: STRASBOURG (France)
Buffet breakfast on board. Panoramic tour & guided visit of Strasbourg. Lunch at the restaurant in Strasbourg. Free time. Transfer to the ship. Presentation of the crew and welcome cocktail. Cruise to Mainz.
DAY 8: MAINZ (Germany) - FRANKFURT
Full board on board. Arrival in Mainz, in the past the city was the residence of bishops who had a major role in the history of the Saint-Empire. Discovery of the city with our accompanist. Cruise to Frankfurt. In the afternoon, optional guided tour of the city. Frankfurt is a major hub of business, but the birthplace of Goethe is not only a city of money. Cruise to Miltenberg.
DAY 9: MILTENBERG - WERTHEIM
Full board on board. Early in the morning, arrival in Miltenberg. Discovery of this peaceful town with our accompanist. It is a beautiful city, its street with half-timbered houses are still protected by ramparts and medieval doors. Cruise to Wertheim situated in the confluence of the Tauber and the Main. Arrival and discovery of Wertheim on your own. Overnight.
DAY 10: WERTHEIM - WURZBURG - KITZINGEN
Full board on board. Cruise toward Karlstad and optional visit to Würzburg. Situated on the right bank of the Main, the city is famous for its baroque palace, the former residence of the bishop princes. Return on board in Wurzburg and cruise to Kitzingen. Evening of entertainment. Overnight.
DAY 11: KITZINGEN - ROTHENBURG - BAMBERG
Full board on board. Cruise to Volkach and optional guided tour to Rothenburg, a magnificent walled town set up high on the hills over the river, a required stage of the Romantic Road. Return on board in Schweinfuhrt and cruise to Bamberg. Overnight.
DAY 12: BAMBERG - NUREMBERG - MUHLHAUSEN
Full board on board. Sailing on the Rhine-Main-Danube canal, which was opened on September 25, 1992, 70 years to build this 171 km long canal. Arrival in Nuremberg and optional guided visit of the city. Nuremberg, a former free imperial city, the old town gathers Gothic buildings, timbered houses and bourgeois homes. Return on board and cruise to Muhlhausen. Arrival during the evening. Entertainment provided by our crew. Overnight.
DAY 13: MUHLHAUSEN - REGENSBURG
Full board on board. Cruise to Kelheim, optional excursion to Regensburg. The city has a decisive importance in the fields of culture and medieval art. Return on board in Regensburg.
DAY 14: REGENSBURG - PASSAU
Full board on board. Arrival in Passau. Discovery of the town on your own. Its baroque buildings and narrow romantic streets are unforgettable. Return on board and cruise through the attractive region of Engelhartszell. Evening of entertainment on board.
DAY 15: PASSAU - MELK (Austria) - VIENNA
Full board on board. Arrival in Melk. Optional excursion to the Benedictine abbey of Melk, which is the symbol of Austrian baroque at its finest. Return on board and sailing to Durnstein. Arrival, free visit of this picturesque village. Close to the Danube River, Durnstein offers a vision of a lovely medieval town. Return on board and cruise to Vienna. Arrival in Vienna, Gallo-roman town, city of art and history. Optional tour of the illuminated sights of Vienna. Overnight.
DAY 16: VIENNA - ESZTERGOM (Hungary)
Full board on board. Optional guided tour of Schönbrunn Palace and a part of Vienna. In the city center, the Schönbrunn Palace offers an immersion in the heart of Austrian history. Return on board. In the afternoon, free time. Discovery of this magnificent city on your own. Return on board. Sailing to Esztergom. Passing through Bratislava. Gala dinner and dancing evening.
DAY 17: ESZTERGOM - BUDAPEST
Full board on board. Free visit of Esztergom. The town is full of treasures with its neo-classic basilica and former Royal Palace. Cruise to Budapest. Free time. Visit of Budapest by night.
DAY 18: BUDAPEST
Full board on board. Free day in Budapest. Discovery this city on your own or optional sightseeing tour of Budapest. A great European town, more than 1,000 years of history, at once beautiful and painful. Return on board. Optional traditional folk evening in Budapest.
DAY 19: BUDAPEST
Buffet breakfast on board. Tour in the Puzsta where you will discover breathtaking landscapes and its surprising fauna. Typical lunch. In the afternoon, optional visit of the city of Kecskmet and return on board. Welcome cocktail and presentation of the crew. Dinner and evening on board. Sailing during the night to Mohacs.
DAY 20: MOHÁCS (Hungary) - OSIJEK (Croatia)
Full board on board. Early in the morning, passing through customs in Mohacs and continuation of the cruise toward Osijek. Fitness session and entertainment on board. Arrival in Osijek. Optional excursion : discovery of the Upper town and the church of St. Peter and St. Paul, the old town (Tvarda)and its fortress, the main square and its Holy Trinity Monument. Cruise continues to Novi Sad. Evening of entertainment.
DAY 21: NOVI SAD (Croatia) - BELGRADE (Serbia)
Full board on board. Optional guided tour of Novi Sad, capital of Vojvodina. The lively and colorful little historic center of Novi Sad is absolutely charming. Cruise to Sremski Karlovci, Serb cultural center of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Sailing to Belgrade and optional excursion to visit the town. Belgrade has created its own cultural identity based on a mix of Austro-Hungarian, Ottoman and Slavic cultures. Dancing evening. Sailing during the night.
DAY 22: THE IRON GATES
Full board on board. Day spend sailing: passing through the narrow pass of the Iron Gates between the Carpathians and the Balkans. The most spectacular part of the pass used to be called “the Danube Boilers” by navigators and sailors because the water trapped between the steep mountainous walls seemed to bubble and boil. An equally striking but somewhat lighter landmark on the Serbian side of the river is the “Tabula Traiana” - an enormous Roman memorial plaque made of marble, erected to commemorate the completion of Trajan's military road, or “imperial route” that linked the province of Dacia to Rome. An elegant viaduct towers over the mouth of the river and we can see the “portrait” of the old Dacian King Decebalus carved into the rock face. Sailing during the night.
DAY 23: RUSE (Serbia)
Full board on board. Early in the morning, arrival in Ruse. Day tour (lunch included). Optional visit of Veliko Tarnovo, the medieval capital of Bulgaria but also capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire, which was established in the heart of the country. Lunch in a restaurant with a marvelous view on the ruins of the fortress. In the afternoon, discovery of Arbanassi, classified as an "Architectural and Historical Reserve". Return on board and Overnight.
DAY 24: RUSE - OLTENITA (Romania)
Full board on board. Optional visit of Ruse. The town has a surprising multi-ethnic character and is a cleverly constructed mix of Bulgarian and Romanian cultures. Sailing to Giurgiu. Optional excursion to Bucharest, nicknamed “Little Paris”. Visit of the eco-museum which gives us the opportunity to appreciate the architecture and rural craftwork of Romania's many different regions. Cruise to Cernavoda / Fetesti. Gala evening. Sailing during the night.
DAY 25: CERNAVODA / FETESTI (Romania) - SULINA (Romania)
Full board on board. Arrival in Cernavoda / Fetesti and optional full-day excursion to Constanta (lunch included). The town, founded by the Greeks in the 7th century BC., is the largest port on the Black Sea, second in importance only to Istanbul. Discovery of a real melting pot of architectural styles, most evident in the Orthodox Church (the interior) and the Great Mosque (the exterior). Lunch in a local restaurant. Cruise continues to Murfatlar where Romania produces its best wines. Tasting of wine in a wine cellar. Evening of entertainment. Sailing during the night.
DAY 26: SULINA (Romania) - CRISAN (Romania) - TULCEA (Romania)
Full board on board. Arrival of the boat in Sulina, situated at the mouth of the Danube. Arrival in Crisan and optional excursion on the Danube delta, a very important nature reserve and established as a Biosphere Reserve in 1998 by UNESCO. Travel up some of the many branches of the delta, through tropical vegetation (the northernmost tropical vegetation in Europe) and passing a great variety of wildlife. Cruise to Tulcea. In the beginning of the evening, arrival in Tulcea and a Romanian folk evening on board. Overnight.
DAY 27: TULCEA (Romania) - CONSTANTA (Romania)
Buffet breakfast on board. Disembark during the morning.
