The current Rhône à Sète Canal is a joining of the previously constructed Canal des Étangs, Canal de Beaucaire, and the Canal de la Radelle. The Rhône à Sète Canal is approximately 61 miles long. All along the canal you can observe the plentiful marsh wildlife and professional fishermen. From Avignon to Frontignan Port, we'll first take the Rhône River, arriving in Beaucaire and its port, where we'll begin to cruise the Rhône à Sète Canal. At the foot of the Costières plateau lies Saint-Gilles-du-Gard, its beautiful landscapes, and its splendid 12th-century abbey. Next is the imposing fortified city of Aigues-Mortes and its tumultuous history-- but also the door to the Camargue, its bull-raising and magnificent white horses. Lastly, we'll take the Chemin des Étangs to the Sète port.
