DAY 1: Strasbourg - MUNICH
You'll leave Strasbourg by coach and upon arrival in Munich, you’ll check into a 3-star hotel in Munich or its surroundings. Dinner is provided this evening, and afterwards you are free to do as you please.
DAY 2: THE CASTLES OF LUDWIG II - OBERAMMERGAU
Full board. Full-day excursion. We’ll first visit Neuschwanstein Castle, a nineteenth-century Romanesque Revival palace on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau. This elaborate castle was dedicated as a “temple of friendship” to the life and work of Richard Wagner by King Ludwig II. In the afternoon, visit of Linderhof Palace. Although it was the smallest of the three palaces built by Ludwig II, it was his favorite residence and designed in the style of the second Rococo period. Before returning to Munich, we’ll stop by the village of Oberammergau, known throughout the world for its Passion Play. Stroll through the village and return to the hotel for the night. The evening is free to do as you please.
DAY 3: MUNICH - PASSAU
Full board. Guided tour on foot of Munich's historical heart: Karlstor, Saint Michael’s Church, the Frauenkirche, Marienplatz, Neues Rathaus, Altes Rathaus, and Saint Peter’s Church. Guided panoramic tour of Munich to see the exteriors of the Olympic Village, BMW World, Ludwigstrasse, Karlsplatz, Hofbräuhaus, Odeonplatz, Bayerische Staatsoper Opera House, and Nymphenburg Palace. In the afternoon, we’ll join our ship in Passau, and after comfortably settling into your cabins, we’ll introduce our crew to you at a welcome cocktail. Cruise towards the beautiful region of Engelhartszell and evening of activities on board.
DAY 4: PASSAU - VIENNA
Full board on board. Guided visit to the Melk Abbey. Originally a Baroque-style palace built between 1702 and 1736, it is now a Benedictine monastery and hosts a prestigious coed school with more than 700 students. Return on board by 11:00 a.m., and cruise towards Durnstein. Arrival around 12:30 p.m., and you'll be able to spend some free time visiting this lovely village. Return on board and cruise to Vienna. Arrival in Vienna about 8:30 p.m. Visit to explore the city by night. Overnight stop.
Day 5: VIENNA
Full board on board. Visit of the Schoenbrunn Palace and a portion of Vienna. The history of this palace and its vast gardens spans over 300 years, reflecting the changing tastes, interests, and aspirations of successive Habsburg monarchs. Enjoy some free time this afternoon and discover this majestic city at your own pace. Return on board and cruise towards Budapest. Gala evening.
DAY 6: ESZTERGOM - BUDAPEST
Full board on board. Free time to visit Esztergom, the former capital of Hungary. The city is the seat of the Primate of the Roman Catholic Church in Hungary and the former seat of the Constitutional Court of Hungary. Return to the ship. Arrival in Budapest about 4:00 p.m. Nicknamed the “Pearl of Danube”, Budapest is a virtual microcosm of styles, with each period leaving a distinct mark. Guided tour of Budapest by night.
DAY 7: BUDAPEST
Full board on board. Guided tour of Budapest that was once two distinct cities united only in 1873: Buda, with its winding streets, Turkish baths and Buda Castle; and Pest, whose panoramic view over the banks of the Danube is listed as part of the world's cultural heritage by UNESCO. In the afternoon, free time to explore the city on your own. Traditional show in Budapest.
Day 8: BUDAPEST - Strasbourg
Buffet breakfast on board before disembarking at 9:00 a.m. You’ll return to Paris on a charter flight(1) with a stopover in Strasbourg. End of our services.
