Celebrate Valentine's Day on the Canal Saint-Martin

Passengers are welcome to board the MS RAYMONDE at 6:00 p.m. in Paris. After settling into your cabins, we’ll have dinner on board. We’ll remain in La Villette overnight.

DAY 2: PARIS and the neighborhood of Saint-Germain-des Prés – Canal Saint-Martin

All meals served on board. We’ll spend the morning cruising the Canal Saint-Martin from the La Villette to the Quai de Grenelle, drifting by the typical neighborhoods found in “authentic” Paris. We’ll travel along the Seine and sail the length of the Trocadero and Tuileries gardens and the Île Saint Louis before arriving at the Canal Saint-Martin. Once through the tunnel, the canal journeys along paths lined with century-old trees. Once a working-class area, the Canal Saint-Martin is now the epitome of romance. Its elegant footbridges, nine locks, and active barges will send you back to the days of “old Paris” and all its vintage charm.
In the afternoon, we’ll enjoy a guided tour of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Beginning at the Trocadero, we’ll walk along the famous Triumphal Way - the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs Elysées and the Place de la Concorde before arriving in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. It’s one of the legendary sites where history, architecture, art, and everyday life converge to symbolize iconic Paris. You can still feel the bohemian spirit that inspired Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir and Juliette Gréco - when this neighborhood became the meeting place of intellectuals and philosophers, actors and musicians during the existentialist movement right after World War II. Near the Odéon, we’ll discover many of the famous participants of the French Revolution, including Danton, Marat, and Dr. Guillotin, as well as the oldest café in Paris. Along the Seine, artists and bookworms dash in and out of antique shops and luxury boutiques. At the end of the day, we’ll return to our ship by coach. Tonight is our festive gala evening. We’ll cruise along the Seine (depending on the water level) to take in enchanting Paris by night. Overnight stop.

Enjoy one last buffet breakfast on board before disembarking at 11:00 a.m. End of our services.
