Rome, the Eternal City

DAY 1: France - DUBROVNIK (Croatia)

You’ll take a charter flight(2) from France to Dubrovnik, where you are welcome to board our ship starting at 4 p.m. After comfortably settling into your cabins, we’ll introduce our crew at a welcome cocktail. Our ship will leave for Bari. Tonight, we’ll enjoy dinner and an evening of entertainment on board. Our ship will cruise through the night.

DAY 2: BARI (Italy)

After arriving in Bari, we’ll leave on an excursion to Alberobello. This small town was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its unusual districts of trulli: white-washed, conical-roofed houses found in the region. Alberobello is a city made for wandering. The Rione Monti district consists of several narrow lanes sloping upwards, with others winding along the hillside, and is extremely picturesque both from afar and close up. After our visit, we'll return on board and spend the afternoon cruising the Adriatic Sea. Take advantage of this time to participate in the onboard activities. This evening, dinner will be followed by dancing. Our ship will cruise through the night.
All meals served on board.

DAY 3: At sea

We'll spend the day at sea, so all meals will be served on board.

DAY 4: MESSINA (Sicily)

After arriving in Messina, we'll leave on a guided tour of the city. Messina is located on the Strait of Messina, which separates the Region of Calabria from the island of Sicily. Nature has created a masterpiece of the sea in the area: like a kaleidoscope of hues, the sea changes from nocturnal blue to crystalline. This will be the moment to discover the Piazza Cairoli, the courthouse, university buildings and the chapel of Sacrario di Cristo Re (exteriors). Before returning to the ship, we’ll watch the spectacular show on the bell tower by one of the greatest astronomical clocks built by the French company Ungerer in 1933. Every day at noon, the figures begin moving and tell the history of Messina in 15 minutes. In the afternoon, we'll continue cruising, passing through the famous Strait of Messina. Greek mythology places two sea monsters, Scylla and Charybdis, on opposite sides of the strait. Homer had Odysseus choose which monster to confront when passing through. This story gave rise to the idiomatic phrase "Between a rock and a hard place." After dinner, we’ll enjoy an evening of entertainment.
All meals served on board.

The morning will be dedicated to a tour of Herculaneum. Herculaneum's fate runs parallel to Pompeii. Destroyed by an earthquake in 62 AD, the subsequent eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD saw it submerged in a sea of mud that essentially fossilized the city. Discover the wealth of archaeological finds, from ancient advertisements and stylish mosaics, to carbonized furniture and inhabitants. Afterwards, we’ll return on board and spend the afternoon cruising to Civitavecchia. Tonight is our festive gala evening.
All meals served on board.

We’ll spend the day visiting Rome, the Eternal City (the trip between Civitavecchia and Rome is approximately 1.5 hours). Rome is one of the world's most beautiful and inspiring capitals, awash with priceless treasures. During our panoramic tour, you'll see the most important sites such as Saint Peter's Basilica, the Colosseum, and the Baths of Caracalla (exteriors). In the afternoon, we’ll have a stroll through the city and admire the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and the legendary Piazza Navona. Enjoy some free time before returning to the ship in Civitavecchia. Our ship will leave for Livorno. After dinner, we’ll enjoy an evening of entertainment.
All meals included.

DAY 7: LIVORNO - France
