We'll first take a tour of Trois-Rivières, located at the confluence of the Saint-Maurice and Saint Lawrence Rivers. It hosts several annual festivals, including a ten-day summer music festival and an international poetry festival. Trois-Rivières is Canada's oldest industrial city and was once known as the pulp and paper industry capital of the world. Today, it's attempting an industrial revitalization by establishing technology parks close to both Montreal and Quebec City.
After our tour, we’ll hit the road to visit a local cabane à sucre (sugar shack). Although maple taffy is traditionally a winter treat, there are shacks open all year round. The warm, family atmosphere includes traditional music and local products. We’ll take a tour and enjoy some crepes and maple taffy made on snow before our eyes.
After our excursion, we’ll return to the ship in Trois-Rivières.
