Naples is Italy's third largest city and one of its oldest, most artistic and most delicious. Naples might seem anarchic, tattered and unloved, but look beyond and you’ll find a city of breathtaking frescoes, sculptures and panoramas. The area is loomed over by Mt. Vesuvius and overlooks a marvelous bay, whose beauty has served as driving inspiration for many an artist. The multitude of sites will excite every type of visitor: from the art and history enthusiast to the nature and sea lover.
We’ll leave on a panoramic tour of the city by coach, and you'll be able to discover the Royal Palace, the San Carlo Theater, and the Castel Nuovo. We’ll continue on foot through the medieval center, where you can admire the Galleria Umberto I and the Basilica Reale San Francesco di Paola. We’ll take the Bourbon Tunnel, a never-completed escape route that is part of the aqueduct system.
Lastly, we’ll visit the Cappella Sansevero containing the masterpiece Veiled Christ, renowned world over for the remarkable tissue-like quality of the marble.
Enjoy some time on your own before returning to the ship.
