Description

Set off by coach from Nierstein for a guided visit of Alzey. The medieval city was made famous by the legendary troubadour Volker von Alzey. We have a guided walking tour of the historic town which still has many half-timbered houses and the ruins of a medieval wall and a castle. We will also pass the wall encircling the town, see the outside of the small Lutheran church, the Burggrafiat (a 17th century Baroque building), the wine-producing estate, Alzey Castle (today the law courts) and the Roman ruins on a site called “Römerekastell”. To finish our visit, we taste some wine at one of the wine producers. We return on board at Nierstein.
