Description

Depart by bus from Corinth to Mycenae, described by Homer as “Mycenae, rich in gold”. According to legend Perseus founded the city with the help of the Cyclops. The remains of the Acropolis the Gate of the Lions, named after the lions carved in relief on its huge drum, the royal tombs, the palace and the tomb of Agamemnon, relive the saga of the Atreides. Lunch in a restaurant. Then Nafplio, the first capital of modern Greece, dominated by the Palamedes fort. Nafplio set in a rocky peninsula cuts into the tranquil waters of the Gulf of Argolis. An ancient very picturesque town with lots of charm. Finally, we will visit Epidaurus - the Sanctuary of the healer god Asclepius, the PanHellenic Games were held in its stadium. The hillside theatre (3rd century BC) is remarkable for its size (It can accommodate 14,000 spectators) as much by its state of preservation and has exceptional acoustics. Discoveries made in the sanctuary of Asclepius are exposed at the Museum of Epidaurus. Back on board at Corinth.
