We’ll leave on a panoramic tour of the main sites in the Russian capital. We’ll pass through the historic center, where the famous Red Square and Saint Basil’s Cathedral are located. Very little is known about the genuine history of this legendary building except that it was requisitioned by Ivan the Terrible to mark the 1552 capture of Kazan from Mongol forces. It was completed in 1560. Nothing is known about the builders, except their names and the legend that Ivan had them blinded so that they could not create anything to compare. We’ll then see the State Tretyakov Gallery, which possesses a unique collection of Russian art, including masterpieces that span a period of a thousand years. We’ll return on board after our tour.
