We’ll visit Peterhof Palace, known as the Russian Versailles and built under the reign of Peter the Great. It’s an enormous, opulent complex that overlooks a cascade of fountains and gardens opening onto the Baltic Sea. The spectacular parkland was laid out over several generations and is remarkable for the sheer variety of styles. The range and diversity of fountains is astounding, and the vista of the Grand Cascade with the Grand Palace behind it is truly breathtaking. The supremely elegant Great Peterhof Palace is one of the greatest monuments of the 18th century and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Inside, the palace is lavish and grand. Visitors first encounter Rastrelli's incredibly ornate Ceremonial Staircase, which sets the tone for the tour to come. The splendid white and turquoise Throne Room has a particularly fine parquet floor. We'll visit the luxuriant rooms and halls of this summer Imperial residence. After our tour of the palace, enjoy some free time walking through the park. We’ll return on board after our tour.
