DAY 1 LYON
We board in Lyon around 6.00pm at Claude Bernard’s quay and settle into our cabins. We are introduced to the crew over a welcome cocktail, evening of entertainment. We moor for the night.
DAY 2 LYON - TAIN L’HERMITAGE
We set off on our cruise early this morning. The entire morning is spent afloat as we head along the Rhône valley, passing the vineyards of the Côte Rôtie, Condrieu, Château Grillet and St Joseph. Arrival around 2.00pm in Tain l’Hermitage, where the best known of the local wines, the renowned Hermitage vineyards, are located on the hill overlooking the town. This hill is topped by the chapel St Christophe which seems to stand guard at the entrance to the valley, and offers panoramic views over the town and vineyards. We have the opportunity to join an optional wine tasting in one of the fine wine cellars, where we can taste some of the famous wines of the region. Return on board, evening of music and dancing. We moor for the night.
DAY 3 TAIN L’HERMITAGE - VIENNE - LYON - COLLONGES
We set sail early again this morning and head for Vienne. Optional guided walking tour of Vienne. The richness and diversity of its history have elevated Vienne to become one of the top towns of art and history. We set sail again around 11am and continue our cruise to Lyon and arrive in the early afternoon, where we have free time or an optional guided visit around the city. Afterwards, we return on board and set sail to our next stop – beside the “Paul Bocuse” restaurant at Collonges au Mont d’Or. We make the journey by coach to the “abbey of Collonges”(1), the large and impressive reception hall of Paul Bocuse. Here we are served a dinner in the purest French culinary tradition, in the Grand Limonaire room of the abbey, accompanied by music from a lovingly restored organ dating from 1900. We return on board around midnight.
DAY 4 COLLONGES - MACON - BELLEVILLE - LYON
During the night, the boat sets sail for Mâcon. Here we have free time to visit the heart of the city, whose old quarter is dotted with fine old town houses and mansions. We return on board at the end of the morning and continue our cruise to Belleville, Here we have an optional excursion into the Beaujolais vineyards: Morgon, Villé, Brouilly and many more. We stop at the famous “Hameau du Vin”, a state-of-the-art wine museum unique in Europe. During our excursion, the ship continues cruising to Trévoux, where we return on board. Our cruise continues towards Lyon. Tonight we have our gala dinner and evening of entertainment on board. At the end of the evening, we arrive in Lyon in time to admire the beautifully illuminated façades of the buildings that line the banks of the river Saône. We moor for the night in Lyon.
DAY 5 LYON
Disembark around 9.00am. End of our journey.
