DAY 1: NAPLES
Passengers are welcome to board our ship at the Port of Naples. After comfortably settling into your cabins, we’ll introduce our crew at a welcome cocktail. Tonight we’ll enjoy dinner and an evening of activities on board. We’ll remain in port overnight.
DAY 2: NAPLES
The morning will be dedicated to a tour of Pompeii. A reminder of the violent forces that lie deep inside Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii is Europe’s most compelling archaeological site and one of Italy’s most visited tourist attractions. We’ll visit the House of the Lovers, whose name is derived from an inscription which refers to the sweetness of love and states that "lovers, like bees, wish life to be as sweet as honey."
OR a tour of Herculaneum. Herculaneum's fate runs parallel to Pompeii. Destroyed by an earthquake in 62 AD, the subsequent eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD saw it submerged in a sea of mud that essentially fossilized the city. Discover the wealth of archaeological finds, from ancient advertisements and stylish mosaics, to carbonized furniture and inhabitants.
Then, follow the footsteps of Sophia Loren and Clark Gable in “It Started in Naples,” and stroll hand-in-hand on the Via Caracciolo along the sea or in the Parco Virgiliano, admiring its impressive vistas. We’ll see the San Lorenzo Maggiore (façades), located at the precise historical epicenter of the ancient Roman-Greek city. It was in this church that the famed Italian poet, Boccaccio met his muse, Fiammetta. We’ll return on board our ship and begin to cruise towards Milazzo. Tonight’s soirée will have a Neapolitan theme. Our ship will cruise through the night.
Day 3: The Aeolian Islands - MILAZZO (Sicily)
The morning will be spent cruising to the Aeolian Islands.(1) Rising out of the cobalt-blue seas off Sicily's northeastern coast, the UNESCO-protected Aeolian Islands are a little piece of paradise. The 1994 romantic comedy “Il Postino” was filmed using the island of Salina as a backdrop. We’ll arrive in Milazzo in the early afternoon. Join us for an excursion to Tindari. Discover the Sanctuary of the Black Madonna and the site of an ancient Greek town with stunning views of the Sicilian coastline. Free time in the center of Milazzo. Afterwards, we’ll return on board. This evening, transform yourself into Casanova or one of his paramours. We’ll remain in port overnight.
Day 4: MESSINE (Sicily)
Full-day excursion, including lunch, to Mount Etna and Taormina. Mount Etna is the largest active volcano in Europe. To the ancient Greeks, it was the realm of Vulcan, god of fire, and the home of the one-eyed monster known as the Cyclops. The bleak lava wilderness around the summit of Etna is one of the most memorable landscapes you’ll ever see. We’ll visit Taormina, where parts of the legendary film by Luc Besson, “The Big Blue,” were filmed. Idyllically perched on a rock high above the sea, Taormina incarnates the legendary beauty of Sicily. Its Greek-Roman theatre is not to be missed. Afterwards, we’ll return on board. Tonight’s evening will have a Sicilian theme.
DAY 5: VIBO MARINA - Calabria
This morning, join us for an interactive presentation of Italy’s cinema and romantic songs. Afterwards, we’ll set off on an excursion in Calabria. Calabria is at the toe of the boot, the extreme south of Italy - lapped by the splendid crystal-clear Ionian and Tyrrhenian Seas. Its warm climate, beautiful colors, rocky coasts, local food and the vestiges of its ancient origins make it a unique place to be enjoyed in both winter and summer. We’ll begin our visit with Tropea, a seaside resort with impressive scenery. It has that lovely, timeless, faded feel characteristic of sleepy southern Italian seaside towns. Well enjoy a tasting of regional products. Tonight’s entertainment will be provided by the crew. We’ll cruise towards Salerno throughout the night.
DAY 6: SALERNO - The Amalfi Coast
Our ship will cruise along the Amalfi Coast which is said to be inhabited by mythical sirens. Designated by UNESCO as an outstanding example of a Mediterranean landscape, don’t miss this beguiling combination of great beauty: a stunning vertical scene of precipitous crags, picturesque towns and lush forests. We’ll set out on an excursion to visit the villages along the Amalfi Coast. We’ll tour Sorrento and its quaint port, where Sophia Loren shot scenes from the 1955 film “Scandal in Sorrento.” Tonight is our festive gala evening. Our boat will begin to cruise during the night.
DAY 7: NAPLES - Capri - Anacapri - NAPLES
Full-day excursion to Capri and Anacapri (lunch included).(1) We’ll take an airboat to splendid Capri, made famous by Hervé Vilard’s song "Capri, c’est fini." Stroll through the city that inspired the 1965 summer hit. We’ll head to the village of Anacapri and visit the villa San Michele, built at the turn of the last century by Swedish physician and author Axel Munthe. Anacapri is located in the highest part of the island, and from the villa gardens you’ll have a fantastic view of the city of Capri, the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. The area is saturated with the colors, scents and light of the Mediterranean. In the afternoon, enjoy some free time on your own or visit the Gardens of Augustus, offering splendid views of the sea and fantastic photographic vistas. We’ll return to Naples by airboat.
