Day 1: NANTES December 22, 2016
Passengers are welcome to board our ship in Nantes between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. After comfortably settling into your cabins, we’ll introduce our crew at a welcome cocktail. Tonight, we’ll enjoy dinner followed by entertainment.
DAY 2: NANTES – SAINT-NAZAIRE December 23, 2016
All meals served on board. Join us for a tour of Nantes. You’ll discover the small streets of the medieval Bouffay quarter and the beautiful Flamboyant-style exterior of the Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul. We’ll visit the île Feydeau, you’ll discover the shopping districts created in the 18th century around the Théâtre Graslin and the Passage Pommeraye. We’ll continue on our tour to the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany. Return on board. Spend the afternoon with us on an optional excursion to the seaside town of Saint-Nazaire. We’ll begin our visit with the Escal’Atlantic, which ingeniously retraces the history of Norman and French ocean liners through a unique experience. Then, we’ll continue on to the Saint-Nazaire shipyard, one of the largest and well-renowned in Europe (You must reserve this excursion before your departure through your travel agent). A valid form of identification (passport) will be needed to access the site. We’ll return to the ship in Saint-Nazaire. Tonight's theme is "The Tales of Christmas". We’ll remain in port overnight.
Day 3: SAINT-NAZAIRE – ANCENIS December 24, 2016
All meals served on board. We’ll begin to cruise early in the morning, spend the morning on the river, and arrive in Ancenis in the early afternoon. Feel free to join us for an excursion to the Muscadet region. We’ll pass through several villages that are testimony to the strong winegrowing identity in the region. We’ll continue toward La Chapelle Heulin and stop at the Château Cassemichère (or similar site). This exceptional site invites you to discover its history-filled vineyards, visit its cellars and taste the dry, light, fruity and aromatic wine. Then we’ll leave for Clisson, a charming medieval city with 15th century vestiges and a slight Italian feel. Following our tour, we’ll return to the boat to enjoy our festive Christmas Eve dinner on board. Christmas services will be celebrated in Ancenis (possibility of transportation: €13/person; reservation and payment on board(1)). We’ll remain in port overnight.
Day 4: ANCENIS – Angers – ANCENIS December 25, 2016
As you enjoy our breakfast buffet this morning, our ship will begin to cruise to Bouchemaine. Once we arrive, join us for an excursion to Angers. Angers was the capital of the historical Anjou province and is distinguished not only by its legacy, but also by its modern nature. We’ll also visit La Doutre, a village-like neighborhood in the heart of the city. Return on board. Tonight’s entertainment will be provided by the crew. We’ll remain in port overnight.
Day 5: BOUCHEMAINE – THE LOIRE VALLEY CHâTEAUX– NANTES December 26, 2016
Enjoy a buffet breakfast on board before a full day’s excursion to the Châteaux of the Loire Valley. We’ll leave by coach for the Château d'Azay-le-Rideau. Built on a small island in the middle of the Indre River, the château as it is seen today was built under Francis I by Gilles Berthelot, a wealthy financier who wanted to incorporate its medieval past alongside the latest architectural styles of the Italian renaissance. We’ll continue on to Chinon, where you’ll discover an ancient underground quarry that has been transformed into a wine cellar. We'll finish with a wine tasting. After lunch, we’ll visit the Château de Chinon. Overlooking the town, the castle was the site of key events involving the Hundred Years’ War between England and France. We’ll return to the ship in Nantes (a 2-hour trip). Tonight will be our gala dinner and evening, and we’ll remain in port overnight.
Day 6: NANTES December 27, 2016
Enjoy one last buffet breakfast on board before disembarking around 10:00 a.m.
