DAY 1: PORTO
Boarding in Porto in the end of the afternoon. Welcome cocktail and presentation of the crew. Dinner on board. Weather permitting, in the evening sailing to the mouth of the Douro River. Discovery of the magnificent evening lights of Porto from the ship.
DAY 2: PORTO - REGUA
Full board on board. Guided tour of Porto. Visit of the Porto Cathedral, the Palácio da Bolsa (Stock Exchange Palace), the Clérigos Church and Tower, Liberdade Square, and the town hall. Then visit of a wine cellar and taste local port wine in Villa Nova de Gaia, a city on the left bank of the Douro. Return on board and continuation of the cruise. Sit back and admire the fabulous scenery during our journey to Regua. Passing through the Crestuma/Lever and Carrapatello Locks. The latter is the tallest in Europe at almost 115 feet. Arrival in Regua in the evening. Dancing evening.
DAY 3: REGUA - PINHAO - VEGA DE TERRON
Full board on board. Tour of Vila Real, where aristocrats built grand palaces during the 16th and 17th centuries. A bit further along, strolling through the lovely gardens of the Mateus Palace. Return on board and continuation of the cruise through the most renowned vineyards in the Porto area, passing along the magnificent hills covered with terraced vines reaching over 2,296 feet high and plunging down to the river banks. Crossing the lock near Valeira and arrival in Vega de Terron during the evening. Evening of entertainment by our crew.
DAY 4: VEGA DE TERRON (excursion to Salamanca) - BARCA D'ALVA
Buffet breakfast on board. Guided visit of Salamanca. Discovery of the cathedral, the Plaza Mayor, the Casa de las Conchas (its facade decorated with more than 300 seashells), the Plateresque facade of the university, the 12th-century Saint Martin’s Church, Clerecía Church, and the town hall. Lunch in Salamanca. Return on board in Barca d’Alva. Fine Spanish cuisine dinner on board tonight, followed by a flamenco show. Overnight.
DAY 5: BARCA D'ALVA - SENHORA DA RIBEIRA
Full board on board. Visit to Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo. Situated in the northern foothill of Marofa Mountain, in the middle of cultivated plains, this once-medieval town is a historic treasure thanks to the outstanding renovations that preserved the houses and important buildings. Don’t forget to take in the magnificent view of the valley. Return on board and continuation of the cruise toward Senhora da Ribeira. Afternoon spend cruising on the Douro. Take advantage of this moment to relax on the sun deck and admire the valley’s fantastic landscapes. Arrival in Senhora da Ribeira at the end of the day. Gala evening. Overnight.
DAY 6: SENHORA DA RIBEIRA - FERRADOSA - PINHAO - REGUA - BITETOS
Full board on board. Departure of the boat from Senhora da Ribeira early in the morning. Discovery of the wild terrain and impressive rock formations. Arrival in Ferradosa in the morning. Excursion to “Port Wines”, following the wine route and stop at a scenic viewpoint in the heart of the vineyards. Wine tasting at a quinta. Return on board in Pinhao and continuation of the cruise, reaching Bitetos in the evening. Evening of Fado music on board.
DAY 7: BITETOS - PORTO
Full board on board. Morning spend cruising to Porto and arrival in the end of the morning. In the afternoon, excursion to Braga, one of the most beautiful cities in Portugal thanks its number of impressive Baroque monuments. Return on board. Evening of traditional entertainment.
DAY 8: PORTO
Buffet breakfast on board. Disembark. End of our services.
