DAY 1: NAPLES
Passengers are welcome to board our ship in the Port of Naples. After comfortably settling into your cabins, we’ll introduce our crew at a welcome cocktail. Tonight we’ll enjoy dinner and an evening of activities on board.
DAY 2: NAPLES
The morning will be dedicated to a tour of Pompeii. A reminder of the violent forces that lie deep inside Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii is Europe’s most compelling archaeological site and one of Italy’s most visited tourist attractions.
Join us on a tour of Herculaneum. Herculaneum's fate runs parallel to Pompeii. Destroyed by an earthquake in 62 AD, the subsequent eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD saw it submerged in a sea of mud that essentially fossilized the city. Discover the wealth of archaeological finds, from ancient advertisements and stylish mosaics, to carbonized furniture and inhabitants.
The afternoon will be spent on a visit of Naples. After a panoramic tour of the city, we'll take a stroll down the San Ferdinando quarter, impressive with its majestic squares and palaces. Monuments from various eras are gathered here, such as the Galleria Umberto I from the 19th century which was built as a means to combine businesses, shops, cafes and social life, and still serves the same purpose to this day. We'll also get to marvel at the Teatro di San Carlo and the Royal Palace (exteriors only). Afterwards, we'll taste a true Pizza Napoletana at a traditional pizzeria before returning on board and cruising towards Milazzo. Tonight, enjoy an Italian-flag-themed soirée: typical Italian dishes will tickle your tastebuds before an evening of dancing to the rhythm of beloved Italian songs. Our ship will cruise through the night.
DAY 3: The Aeolian Islands - MILAZZO (Sicily)
The morning will be spent cruising to the Aeolian Islands (1). Rising out of the cobalt-blue seas off Sicily's northeastern coast, the UNESCO-protected Aeolian Islands are a little piece of paradise. The chain of islands is named after the demigod of the winds, Aeolus. We’ll arrive in Milazzo in the early afternoon. Join us for an excursion to Tindari. We’ll discover the Sanctuary of the Black Madonna and the site of an ancient Greek town with stunning views of the Sicilian coastline. After our tour, we'll head to a café for a taste of cappuccino and Sicilian pastries such as the renowned Cannolo Siciliano, a tube-shaped shell of fried pastry dough with a sweet, creamy ricotta and candied fruit filling. Afterwards, we’ll return on board and start cruising. Enjoy a Sicilian themed soirée.
DAY 4: MESSINA (Sicily)
We’ll set out on a full-day excursion to Mount Etna and Taormina (1). Mount Etna is the largest active volcano in Europe. To the ancient Greeks, it was the realm of Vulcan, god of fire, and the home of the one-eyed monster known as the Cyclops. The bleak lava wilderness around the summit of Etna is one of the most memorable landscapes you’ll ever see. Afterwards, we’ll travel to Taormina. Idyllically perched on a rock high above the sea, Taormina incarnates the legendary beauty of Sicily. Its Greek-Roman theatre is not to be missed. Afterwards, we’ll return on board.
DAY 5: VIBO MARINA - Calabria
During the morning, participate in our interactive presentation on Italian cuisine and indulge in Italian delicacies! In the afternoon, join us for an excursion to Calabria. Calabria is at the toe of the boot, the extreme south of Italy - lapped by the splendid crystal-clear Ionian and Tyrrhenian Seas. We’ll visit Tropea, a seaside resort with impressive scenery. It has that lovely, timeless, faded feel characteristic of sleepy southern Italian seaside towns. You’ll be able to taste some regional specialties: wine, bruschetta, cheese and dishes prepared with the "Cipolla Rossa di Tropea” red onion. Afterwards, we'll return on board and cruise towards Salerno.
DAY 6: SALERNO - The Amalfi Coast
Designated by UNESCO as an outstanding example of a Mediterranean landscape, the Amalfi Coast combines great beauty and gripping drama: coastal mountains plunge into the sea among the deep crags, picturesque towns and lush forests. We’ll set out on an excursion to visit the villages along the Amalfi Coast. We’ll discover Sorrento and its extraordinary gardens and landscapes, and taste some local specialties: mozzarella, Italian cold cuts, olive oil and limoncello. Afterwards, we’ll return on board and sail along the Amalfi Coast all afternoon. Tonight’s our festive gala dinner and evening. Our boat will begin to cruise during the night.
DAY 7: NAPLES - Capri - Anacapri - NAPLES
We’ll set off for a full-day excursion to Capri and Anacapri (lunch included) (1). We’ll take an airboat or a ferry boat (depending on departure times) to splendid Capri. On arrival, we’ll head to the village of Anacapri and visit the villa San Michele, built at the turn of the last century by Swedish physician and author Axel Munthe. Anacapri is located in the highest part of the island, and from the villas gardens you’ll have a fantastic view of the city of Capri, the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. The area is saturated with the colors, scents and light of the Mediterranean.
