Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the historic and legendary Rhine River is bestowed with truly magnificent landscapes. Fortified castles, terraced vineyards, steep gorges, towns and villages with a rich historic heritage are just waiting to be explored.
DAY 1: FRANKFURT
Passengers are welcome to board in Frankfurt between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. This evening, we'll introduce our crew over a welcome cocktail. We'll dine on board and remain in Frankfurt overnight.
DAY 2: FRANKFURT - MAINZ
After breakfast on board, you are free to spend some time on your own or you can join a guided visit of Frankfurt. A bustling business city and major trading center, Frankfurt's eclectic mix of ancient and modern sites will astonish and delight you. A panoramic tour of the city gives us the opportunity to see the main sites and monuments, and then we’ll visit the old town and admire the outside of the Frankfurt Cathedral. At the end of the morning, we’ll return on board to begin our cruise along the Main and then the Rhine Rivers. Enjoy lunch on board and spend the afternoon cruise relaxing and taking in the splendid scenery on our trip to Mainz, arriving during the evening. We'll dine on board and remain in Mainz overnight.
DAY 3: MAINZ - OBERWESEL
After buffet breakfast on board, you can join a guided tour of Mainz and visit the Gutenberg Museum. Mainz was founded more than 2,000 years ago by the Romans and is currently the capital of the Rhine-Palatinate. In the 17th and 18th centuries, top architects and sculptors enhanced the basic shape of the town with fine palaces and churches. We’ll have the chance to admire the magnificent, historical houses which have been outstandingly well-restored, before we continue our visit to the Gutenberg Museum. This world famous museum of book printing houses two copies of the Gutenberg Bible, the first major book printed with movable type in the West. We return on board for lunch and continue our cruise to Oberwesel, along one of the prettiest sections of the Rhine Valley where vines and castles dot the river banks. We’ll arrive in Oberwesel around 4:00 p.m., and you’ll have some free time to explore on your own. Oberwesel is a remarkable example of medieval town planning. Why not take a stroll along the well preserved city walls with their extraordinary towers? At the end of the day, we'll return on board for dinner, followed by an evening of music and dancing. We will remain in port overnight.
DAY 4: OBERWESEL - KOBLENZ - COLOGNE
We will cast off early in the morning and you will enjoy breakfast on board as we cruise. We’ll arrive in Koblenz early in the morning. Spend some free time exploring Koblenz on your own or join us for a guided visit. In the very heart of the picturesque regions around the Rhine and Moselle, Koblenz is surrounded by four low Rhineland mountain ranges and offers visitors a rich collection of cultural monuments and historic buildings. We’ll return on board for lunch and continue our cruise to Cologne. Although this part of the Rhine River is less well-known, it is no less magnificent. Enjoy an afternoon relaxing on the sun deck or join in the fun of onboard games. We'll have dinner on board and arrive in Cologne in the evening. We will remain in port overnight.
DAY 5: COLOGNE - KONIGSWINTER - REMAGEN
After breakfast on board, you are free to spend some time on your own or you can join a guided visit of Cologne. At the crossroads of Europe since the Middle Ages, Cologne has kept its importance as a vibrant commercial and industrial city, as well as a cultural and religious center. We’ll have the opportunity to admire the exterior facades of the magnificent Gothic Cologne Cathedral, which took over 500 years to complete. We’ll continue our visit to the old town and stop to admire the outside of the famous Eau de Cologne neo-Gothic building. After a little free time, we’ll leave by coach to Königswinter, where we’ll rejoin our ship in time for lunch. This afternoon, enjoy free time in Königswinter. Located in the Siebengebirge National Park, this renowned wine-growing city is greatly loved by the Germans. We'll return on board at the end of the afternoon and depart for Remagen. Tonight, we’ll enjoy dinner on board, followed by an evening of entertainment. We’ll arrive in Remagen and moor for the night.
DAY 6: REMAGEN - WIESBADEN
We’ll begin our cruise during the night and continue on the romantic Rhine through the morning. You'll begin your day with a breakfast buffet on board. This stretch of the river has been listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 2002. Slopes of dizzying proportions, steep terraced fields of vines, castles and villages are dotted all along the banks of the river, creating a truly memorable sight. We’ll have lunch on board and arrive in Wiesbaden in the early afternoon. Wiesbaden is the elegant and attractive capital of the federal state of Hesse. It’s exceptionally charming and one of the oldest and most noble spa towns in Germany. Join us for a visit of Wiesbaden. We’ll return on board for dinner and an evening of entertainment. We will remain in port overnight.
DAY 7: WIESBADEN - ALZEY(1) - NIERSTEIN
We’ll have a buffet breakfast on board and set sail during the morning for Nierstein, arriving in time for lunch. This afternoon, we’ll depart by coach for an excursion to Alzey. This medieval city was made famous by the fictitious, legendary troubadour Volker von Alzey from the epic poem Nibelungenlied. We’ll have a guided tour of the historic town, which still has many half-timbered houses and the ruins of a medieval wall and a castle. We will also admire the outside of the small Lutheran church from the 18th century, the Burggrafiat (a 17th century Baroque building), a wine-producing estate, Alzey Castle (today the law courts) and the Roman ruins. At the end of our visit, we’ll taste some wines at one of the local wine producers. We'll return on board to prepare for our gala dinner, followed by an evening of entertainment. We'll continue cruising through the night toward Frankfurt.
DAY 8: FRANKFURT
Enjoy one last breakfast on board before disembarking at 9:00 a.m. End of our services.
