DAY 1: NAPLES
Passengers are welcome to board our ship at the Port of Naples. After comfortably settling into your cabins, we’ll introduce our crew at a welcome cocktail. Tonight we’ll enjoy dinner and an evening of activities on board.
DAY 2: NAPLES
The morning will be dedicated to a tour of Pompeii. A reminder of the violent forces that lie deep inside Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii is Europe’s most compelling archaeological site and one of Italy’s most visited tourist attractions.
Join us on a tour of Herculaneum. Herculaneum's fate runs parallel to Pompeii. Destroyed by an earthquake in 62 AD, the subsequent eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD saw it submerged in a sea of mud that essentially fossilized the city. Discover the wealth of archaeological finds, from ancient advertisements and stylish mosaics, to carbonized furniture and inhabitants. The afternoon will be spent on a visit of Naples and the “street of nativity workshops.” In the oldest section of Naples, enjoy a stroll down the Via San Gregorio Armeno, the famous pedestrian street where you can observe skilled craftsmen actually working on nativity figures as they carve and paint them. During the holidays, the atmosphere here becomes enchanted. We’ll then visit the Museo di Capodimonte. This 18th-century museum is the prime repository of Neapolitan painting and decorative art and houses famous works such as The Flagellation of Christ by Caravaggio. We’ll return on board our ship and begin to cruise towards Milazzo. Tonight’s soirée will have a Neapolitan theme. Our ship will cruise through the night.
DAY 3: The Aeolian Islands - MILAZZO (Sicily)
The morning will be spent cruising to the Aeolian Islands (1). Rising out of the cobalt-blue seas off Sicily's northeastern coast, the UNESCO-protected Aeolian Islands are a little piece of paradise. The chain of islands is named after the demigod of the winds, Aeolus. We’ll arrive in Milazzo in the early afternoon. Join us for an excursion to Tindari. We’ll discover the Sanctuary of the Black Madonna and the site of an ancient Greek town with stunning views of the Sicilian coastline. Free time in the center of Milazzo. Afterwards, we’ll return on board. This evening, dress head-to-toe in white to celebrate Saint Lucy’s Day, the festival of light, for our Sicilian themed soirée.
DAY 4: MESSINE (Sicily)
We’ll set out on a full-day excursion to Mount Etna and Taormina(1). Mount Etna is the largest active volcano in Europe. To the ancient Greeks, it was the realm of Vulcan, god of fire, and the home of the one-eyed monster known as the Cyclops. The bleak lava wilderness around the summit of Etna is one of the most memorable landscapes you’ll ever see. Afterwards, we’ll travel to Taormina. Idyllically perched on a rock high above the sea, Taormina incarnates the legendary beauty of Sicily. Its Greek-Roman theatre is not to be missed. Afterwards, we’ll return on board. Enjoy an evening of entertainment.

During the morning, participate in our quiz on Art through the Ages. In the afternoon, we’ll set out for Vibo Valentia, entirely dominated by the Norman Castle, most likely erected on the site of the Hypponion acropolis. The castle houses the State Archaeological Museum, with one of the most precious finds from the Hellenic past: the Laminetta Aurea, a golden lamina bearing the oldest Orpheus text found in Italy. Afterwards, we’ll head to Pizzo. Enjoy some free time in this charming town located on a steep cliff overlooking the Gulf of Santa Eufemia. We’ll set out on an excursion to visit the villages along the Amalfi Coast whose beautiful decorations and illuminations warm the heart and mind. We’ll discover Sorrento, and its extraordinary gardens and landscapes, and taste some local specialties: mozzarella, Italian cold cuts, olive oil and limoncello. Afterwards, we’ll return on board. In Salerno, enjoy some free time strolling through the city and admiring the whimsical and creative holiday lights. Our boat will begin to cruise during the night.

We’ll set off for a full-day excursion to Capri and Anacapri (1) (lunch included.) We’ll take an airboat or a ferry boat (depending on departure times) to splendid Capri. On arrival, we’ll head to the village of Anacapri and visit the villa San Michele, built at the turn of the last century by Swedish physician and author Axel Munthe. Anacapri is located in the highest part of the island, and from the villas gardens you’ll have a fantastic view of the city of Capri, the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius.
