DAY 1: TULCEA
After boarding and comfortably settling into your cabins, we’ll introduce our crew at a welcome cocktail. We’ll have dinner and enjoy traditional entertainment on board. We’ll remain in port overnight.
DAY 2: TULCEA - SULINA - CRISAN (Romania)
We’ll cruise to Sulina at the mouth of the Danube. After our arrival in Crisan, join us for an excursion to the Danube Delta, the largest and best-preserved European delta. Enjoy the flora and fauna, see the multiple natural and artificial canals, and walk away with impressions that will last a lifetime. We’ll spend the afternoon cruising to Oltenita.
DAY 3: OLTENITA (Romania) - RUSE (Bulgaria)
Join us for a tour of Bucharest, an elegant city layered with history. After our tour, we’ll return on board in Ruse. We’ll remain in port overnight.
DAY 4: RUSE
Join us for a day trip to visit Veliko Tarnovo and Arbanassi. Often referred to as the "City of the Tsars," Veliko Tarnovo is famously known as the historical capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire. We’ll explore Arbanassi this afternoon, known for its rich history and large number of historical monuments. After our tour, we’ll return on board in Ruse. We’ll enjoy a Bulgarian-themed evening on board.
DAY 5: RUSE
Join us for an excursion to visit Ruse. One of Bulgaria’s most elegant cities, its past is abundantly displayed in its ruined Roman fortress, standing guard high over the Danube. We’ll return on board in Svishtov and spend the afternoon and evening cruising to our next destination.
DAY 6: THE IRON GATES
We’ll spend the entire day cruising the river. Our ship will pass through the Iron Gates, the gorge on the Danube that forms part of the boundary between Serbia and Romania. It was called “The Cauldrons” by ancient sailors, since the water, held tightly between two steep cliffs, seems to be boiling. We’ll also see the modern sculpture of the Dacian king Decebalus, the tallest rock sculpture in Europe.
DAY 7: BELGRADE - NOVI SAD (Serbia)
This morning, join us for a tour of Belgrade, cradle of the Austro-Hungarian, Ottoman and Slavic cultures. In the afternoon, we’ll set off on a visit to Novi Sad, the industrial and financial center of the Serbian economy and a major cultural center. We’ll see the Krušedol Monastery as well as the small city of Sremski Karlovci. After our tour, we’ll return on board in Novi Sad and continue cruising to Osijek.
DAY 8: OSIJEK (Croatia) - MOHACS (Hungary)
Join us for a tour of Osijek, a charming Croatian village on the banks of the Danube. We’ll spend the afternoon cruising to Mohacs. After we pass the border in Mohacs, we’ll continue to Budapest. Tonight is our festive gala evening. Our ship will cruise through the night.
DAY 9: BUDAPEST (Hungary)
Enjoy breakfast on board before setting out on a day trip to the Puszta, the Pannonian steppe grasslands. We’ll take in the countryside and watch the horse riders demonstrating their skills. We’ll have lunch before returning on board in Budapest. Feel free to partake in an evening of traditional entertainment in Budapest. We’ll remain in port overnight.
DAY 10: BUDAPEST
Join us for a guided tour of Budapest, once two distinct cities that united only in 1873. After our visit, we’ll return to the ship in Esztergom. During some free time in the afternoon, feel free to explore Esztergom at your own pace. Our ship will then begin to cruise to Vienna. After dinner, we’ll enjoy an evening of entertainment.
DAY 11: BUDAPEST - VIENNA
After our arrival in Vienna, you can set out on your own or join us for a tour of Hofburg Palace, an imperial march through history, art and luxury. Enjoy some free time in the evening or join us for a visit to see the illuminated sights of Vienna.
DAY 12: VIENNA
In the morning, we’ll set out on a tour of Schönbrunn Palace a former summer residence for the Habsburg monarchs - and a bit of Vienna itself. You’re free to do as you please in the afternoon. After dinner, you can enjoy a concert of Viennese music (subject to availability). Our ship will begin to cruise near midnight.
DAY 13: MELK - PASSAU
Enjoy the scenery as we cruise through the most picturesque part of the Wachau Valley. Once we arrive in Melk, we’ll set off on an excursion to Durnstein, the fortified village where Richard the Lionheart was once held prisoner. This afternoon, join us for a visit to the Melk Abbey. Originally a Baroque-style palace built between 1702 and 1736, it is now a Benedictine monastery that hosts a prestigious coed school with more than 900 students. We’ll then cruise to Passau. Tonight’s entertainment will be provided by the crew.
DAY 14: PASSAU
Explore Passau today with your host/hostess. Water has literally shaped this picturesque town at the confluence of the Danube, Inn, and Ilz rivers. We’ll cruise to Regensburg through the night.
DAY 15: REGENSBURG - HILPOLSTEIN
Join us for a tour of Regensburg, the fourth-largest city in the state of Bavaria, which was the cultural center of southern Germany during the Middle Ages. After our tour, we’ll return to the ship in Kelheim. We’ll cruise the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal to Hilpostein.
DAY 16: HILPOLSTEIN - NUREMBERG - BAMBERG
After we arrive in Nuremberg, join us for a tour of the city a melting pot of cultural highlights. Home to historical buildings and spectacular churches, it also has one of Germany’s largest pedestrian areas. At the end of our visit, we'll return on board in Erlangen. We’ll cruise to Bamberg through the night.
DAY 17: BAMBERG - ROTHENBURG
After our morning cruise to Schweinfurt, join us for a visit to Rothenburg, renowned for its well-preserved medieval old town. At the end of our visit, we'll return on board in Kitzingen. Our ship will cruise through the night.
DAY 18: WURTZBURG - WERTHEIM
We’ll set out on a tour of Wurtzburg, nestled in a beautiful, hilly location on the river and possessing a wealth of history. Smack in the middle of one of Germany's biggest wine-producing areas, it’s often where visitors decide to start their tour of the country’s Romantic Road. We’ll return on board in Karlstad and cruise to Wertheim.
DAY 19: WERTHEIM - MILTENBERG - ASCHAFFENBURG
Tour Miltenberg with your host/hostess and discover this charming, very typical German village. We’ll then cruise to Aschaffenburg.
DAY 21: ASCHAFFENBURG - FRANKFURT - MAINZ
We’ll cruise to Frankfurt before setting off on a tour of the city. After our tour, we’ll begin to cruise to Mainz. Medieval Mainz with its impressive, imperial cathedral built with two chancels was the birthplace of Johannes Gutenberg. Once we arrive, explore the city with our host or hostess. Tonight is our festive gala evening.
DAY 21: MAINZ - STRASBOURG
Enjoy breakfast on board, and then take advantage of some free time to join us for an onboard fitness class. We’ll enjoy lunch as we continue to cruise towards Strasbourg. After passing through two impressive locks on the Rhine, Iffezheim and Gambsheim, we’ll arrive in Strasbourg and disembark at approximately 2:00 p.m.
