DAY 1: Strasbourg - SALZBURG
Early in the morning, meeting in Strasbourg (gare fluviale, rue du Havre). Departure by coach toward Salzburg. Stop for a free lunch. Arrival in Salzburg in the beginning of the afternoon. Guided walking tour of the town. This centuries-old jewel of a city has kept all of its charm. It has an incredibly rich past, and was named as a world heritage site by UNESCO for its Renaissance architecture. Dinner and accommodation in the surrounding of Salzburg, in a 3-star hotel. Free evening.
DAY 2: SALZBURG - BUDAPEST
Breakfast in the hotel. Departure by coach to Budapest. Stop for a free lunch. Passing through customs at the Austria-Hungary border. Boarding from 6:00 p.m. Presentation of the crew and welcome cocktail. Dinner on board. Free evening or optional folklore evening in Budapest.
DAY 3: BUDAPEST
Full board on board. Optional guided visit of the city. Budapest, with its numerous edifices situated on each side of the river, is incredibly rich in historic emblems. Return on board in Esztergom. In the afternoon, discovery of Esztergom on your own. This city was Hungary's first capital, full of treasures with its neo-classic basilica and former Royal Palace. Return on board and departure of the boat in the evening to Vienna. Evening of entertainment.
DAY 4: BUDAPEST - VIENNA
Full board on board. Arrival in Vienna in the beginning of the afternoon. Free time or optional visit of the Hofburg (residence of the Hapsburgs). Free evening or an optional tour of Vienna by night.
DAY 5: VIENNA
Full board on board. Optional guided visit of Schönbrunn Palace and part of the city. Discover of the town, its Cathedral and its Opera house. Return on board. Free afternoon. Discovery this magnificent city on your own. Return on board. In the evening, possibility to attend a concert of Viennese music (optional and subject to availability). Departure of the boat during the night.
DAY 6: MELK - PASSAU
Full board on board. Cruise through the most beautiful part of the Wachau Valley. Arrival in Melk during the morning. Departure by coach for an optional excursion to Dürnstein, the most well-known picturesque village in the Wachau. Dürnstein is famous for King Richard the Lionhearted legend, and for its baroque style church. Return on board. In the afternoon, optional excursion to the Abbey of Melk. It sits atop a rocky outcrop overlooking the Danube River from a height of more than 164 feet, and is one of the most complete examples of baroque art in Austria. Return on board and departure of the boat toward Passau. Evening with the crew.
DAY 7: PASSAU
Full board on board. Discovery of Passau with our accompanist. This is a university city, full of music and theater. In the winding streets you'll discover its Baroque patrician houses. Return on board and cruise to Regensburg.
DAY 8: REGENSBURG - HILPOLTSTEIN
Full board on board. Optional guided visit of Regensburg. Regensburg is the fourth largest city in Bavaria, and an important industrial center (BMW, SIEMENS, TRIUMPH). The historic center nurtures memories accumulated over 2,000 years of history. Return on board in Kelheim. Cruise on the Rhine-Main-Danube canal, which was inaugurated on September 25, 1992, headed to Hilpoltstein.
DAY 9: HILPOLTSTEIN - NUREMBERG - BAMBERG
Full board on board. Arrival in Nuremberg in the morning. Optional visit of the city. Nuremberg is a town that seems to come straight out of the Middle Ages. Known as the “Treasure Chest of the German Empire”, the old town is clustered around the old market square: Gothic buildings, half-timbered houses and merchants' residences. Return on board in Erlangen. Cruise to Bamberg.
DAY 10: BAMBERG - ROTHENBURG
Morning spend sailing. Full board on board. Cruise to Schweinfurt. Departure by coach for an optional visit of Rothenburg. Rothenburg is a magnificent town perched high on a hill. Behind its ramparts huddle picturesque streets lined with half-timbered houses and craft shops. It is a must-see on the Romantic Road. Return on board in Kitzingen. Cruise to Würzburg.
DAY 11: WURZBURG - WERTHEIM
Full board on board. Optional visit of Würzburg (residence of the bishop princes). The town is built on the right bank of the Main. It has a truly idyllic setting among vineyards located under the shadows of its imposing citadel - a lasting symbol of the power of the bishop princes. Return on board in Karlstad. Cruise to Wertheim.
DAY 12: WERTHEIM - MILTENBERG - ASCHAFFENBURG
Full board on board. Guided visit of Miltenberg with our accompanist. Discovery of the historic old town with half-timbered houses and the oldest German inn. Such attractions are why Miltenberg deserves its nickname, the “Pearl of the Main”. Cruise to Aschaffenburg.
DAY 13: ASCHAFFENBURG - FRANKFURT - MAINZ
Full board on board. Departure of the boat to Frankfurt. Optional visit of the city. A bustling business city and major commercial center, Frankfurt's eclectic mix of ancient and modern astonishes and delights visitors. Return on board and cruise to Mainz. At the confluence of the Rhine and the Main, sheltering beneath its thousand-year-old cathedral, Mainz, the city of Gutenberg, is the link between past and present. Arrival in the end of the afternoon. Discovery of the city with our accompanist. Gala dinner and evening.
DAY 14: MAINZ - Strasbourg
Buffet breakfast on board. Exercise session. Lunch on board and cruise toward Strasbourg. Passing through the two largest locks on the Rhine, Iffezheim and Gambsheim. Arrival in the beginning of the afternoon. Disembark.
