This cruise will guarantee a complete change of scenery along the Doubs River in completely natural and untouched surroundings. Franche-Comté's history has shaped the architectural landscape, leaving behind many amazing physical reminders over the years. From Besançon to Montbéliard, our tour will take you from town to village as you discover the Doubs River Valley and its inhabitants. However, the Franche-Comté region is also known for its rich diversity of landscapes, from mountains and forests, to rapids and rivers. Here, you will relax in the great outdoors, walking and rambling through the countryside.

 

 

DAY 1: BESANCON

Passengers are welcome to board at 6:00 p.m. After you’ve settled comfortably in your cabin, we’ll present our crew to you before having dinner. We'll remain in port overnight.

DAY 2: BESANCON - DELUZ

Besançon has been listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 2008. Join us on an optional guided visit of the citadel with a registered guide. You will learn about the history of this exceptional defensive site as well as its role from its construction through to the present day. Afterwards you will have free time to visit the various museums in the citadel. We'll return on board in Deluz for lunch. This afternoon, we'll set off on foot to discover the various walking paths around the town(1). We'll have the opportunity to visit the site of the Pelouse Sèche (or dry grassland) which is part of the Natura 2000 project. Here we can admire many different varieties of orchids, the rocks at Château Loriot or the charming chapel at Montoille. We'll return on board for dinner and remain in port overnight.

DAY 3: DELUZ - BAUMES LES DAMES

Buffet breakfast on board today as we spend the morning cruising. We'll be free to cycle along the banks of the Doubs at any time by taking the Euro-Vélo 6 Cycle Route(2), which links the Atlantic Ocean to the Black Sea, thanks to an initiative from the European Federation of Cyclists in 1994. We can take advantage of this cycle ride to visit charming villages. We can return on board at any time during the morning. After lunch on board, the afternoon will be devoted to a guided visit of Baumes les Dames. Here we'll discover the old town including typical buildings full of character, and the fine abbey. Founded in the 5th century, it welcomed and housed nuns from illustrious families and was the scene of a miracle. Odile, the blind daughter of Duke Etichon (Adalric) of Alsace had her sight restored here during her baptism. The visit ends with a tasting of local products. We'll return on board for dinner and remain in port overnight.

DAY 4: BAUMES LES DAMES - CLERVAL

Buffet breakfast on board today as we spend the morning cruising. We'll be free to cycle alongside the boat(2) by taking the Euro-Vélo 6 Cycle Route, and can return on board at any time during the morning. We'll have lunch on board and arrive around 1.00 pm in Clerval. This afternoon we'll discover the hiking path to the Altar Chapel(1). Take a stroll through the heart of Clerval and admire the 16th century houses, the towers and arches around the church of this once fortified town. We'll take the old route for Basel and cross through pleasant undergrowth which leads us to a wonderful panoramic viewing point over the village and valley. We'll return on board for dinner and remain in port overnight.

DAY 5: CLERVAL - L’ISLE SUR LE DOUBS

Buffet breakfast and lunch are taken on board today as we spend the morning cruising. We'll be free to cycle alongside the boat(2) by taking the Euro-Vélo 6 Cycle Route. This afternoon we'll have a stop at l’Isle-sur-le-Doubs. Here is the chance to discover this pretty town at our own pace in its hilly, woodland setting. The town owes its name to its location in the middle of the Doubs Canal, which splits into two parts, thus surrounding the town and forming an island some 800 metres long and 100 metres wide. Dinner is on board this evening as we'll remain in port overnight.

DAY 6: L’ISLE SUR LE DOUBS - MONTBELIARD

Buffet breakfast on board. Early this morning, the boat sets sail and heads for Montbéliard. Buffet breakfast on board. Why not take advantage of the time spent cruising this morning to admire the beautiful scenery in the Doubs Valley, or to walk or cycle along the canal paths alongside the boat? We'll arrive in Montbéliard in mid-afternoon and set off on foot for a tour through the historic heart of Montbéliard, a former Württemberg principality. Accompanied by our guide, we'll travel back in time through four centuries of royal destiny, along streets filled with charm and fantasy. Enjoy have some free time for independent exploration before we return on board. Tonight is our festive gala evening. We’ll remain in port overnight.

DAY 7: MONTBELIARD

Enjoy one last breakfast on board before disembarking at 9:00 a.m. End of our services.
