DAY 1: Strasbourg - LAGARDE
Transfer by coach from Strasbourg to Lagarde. Passengers are welcome to board our ship at 6:00 p.m. After comfortably settling into your cabins, we’ll introduce our crew at a welcome cocktail.
DAY 2: LAGARDE - XOUAXANGE
This morning will be spent cruising toward Xouaxange. Our boat will go through the Réchicourt lock, one of the largest in France, before continuing our journey through the lakes. In the afternoon, join us on a visit to Sarrebourg that will take us on the Chagall trail. Located at the foot of the Vosges and the region of Alsace, the city is rich with diversity.
DAY 3: XOUAXANGE - LUTZELBOURG - Inclined Plain at Arzviller
This morning will be spent cruising towards Lutzelbourg. Enjoy lunch by candlelight, while we pass through the Arzviller and Niderviller Tunnels. Early in the afternoon, our boat will pass through the Artzviller inclined plane for a truly unforgettable experience. A fantastic piece of workmanship, this type of transverse boat lift is the only one of its kind in Europe. We’ll stop off at the local crystal workshop. Located at the foot of the incline for over 25 years, the crystal workshop is a family-run business specializing in the art of crystal blowing and cutting. We’ll return on board and continue on to Lutzelbourg. The canal winds through the Vosges Mountains before joining the Lorraine region.
DAY 4: LUTZELBOURG - SAVERNE
We’ll set off for an excursion on foot to marvel at Lutzelbourg Castle. Perched at over 980 feet above sea level on a rocky, red sandstone spur, the ruins of the castle majestically dominate the village down in the Zorn Valley. We’ll return on board and cruise towards Saverne. In the afternoon, join us on a visit of the Château du Haut Barr, often called “the Eye of Alsace”, from where you will discover splendid views over the Alsatian plains. Enjoy some free time to explore the city or relax in Saverne before returning on board.
DAY 5: SAVERNE - WALTENHEIM
Join us on a guided tour of Saverne. Virtually unknown by the usual tourist routes, Saverne offers a wide range of places to discover: the Grand Rue with its unicorn fountain (the town's emblem); the Katz house, adorned with magnificent carved timbers; Notre Dame Church with its 12th-century steeple; various 18th-century administrative buildings; and the Récollets Monastery founded in the 14th century. The afternoon will be spent cruising towards Waltenheim, passing the charming villages of Hochfelden and Schwindratzheim, nestled on a hillside. Feel free to stroll down the paths or ride one of our bikes along the canal banks. For dinner, enjoy some “tarte flambée”, a local specialty served at a restaurant in Waltenheim.
DAY 6: WALTENHEIM - STRASBOURG
We’ll set out on a hiking tour along the hops trail in Wingersheim. Your pleasurable hike through the hop fields will be followed by a beer tasting. We’ll return on board and cruise towards Strasbourg. We’ll cruise through the Zorn Valley and its landscaped fields, where the canal is wide and straight. Tonight is our gala evening, followed by a panoramic boat tour of Strasbourg's old town (subject to availability.)
DAY 7: STRASBOURG
Enjoy one last buffet breakfast on board before disembarking at 9:00 a.m. End of our services.
