France's gateway to Provence

There is a plethora of discoveries awaiting you along the Rhône and Saône rivers: from untouched natural landscapes and picturesque countryside to towns and cities that blend history with modernity. Whether it's the wild Camargue region, the charming town of Arles, the expansive and vibrant lavender fields of Provence, or the famous city of Avignon, embarking on a river cruise along the Rhône promises an unforgettable experience.

Lyon

The charming city of Lyon is unique and immediately recognizable: its red rooftops, winding cobbled streets, bridges built in various architectural styles, and many hidden squares make Lyon a surprising and enchanting place. When visiting Old Lyon, you can discover the city through the 'traboules' - traditional passages allowing Lyon's inhabitants to reach the banks of the Saone river easily. The traboules connecting buildings in historical areas of Lyon offer a trip back in time in the very heart of the city. Amongst the must-see parts of Lyon are Saint-Georges with its famous church, Saint-Jean with its cathedral renowned for its pink tower, and Saint-Pierre and the Temple du Change.

Arles

Nestled in the heart of Provence, the charming town of Arles beckons travelers with its rich history, vibrant culture, and picturesque landscapes. Steeped in antiquity, Arles offers a captivating blend of Roman heritage, medieval architecture, and a thriving contemporary arts scene. The must-see highlights include the well-preserved Roman Amphitheatre, which once hosted gladiatorial contests and now serves as a venue for cultural events against an ancient backdrop. Additionally, Arles holds a special place in the art world as the town where Vincent Van Gogh produced some of his most iconic works.

The Camargue

Located south of Arles, between the Mediterranean Sea and the Rhône River delta, the Camargue is a natural region of France famous for its marshy terrain and abundant wildlife. With thousands of animals calling it home, this area is recognized as a regional park and nature reserve, spanning a total area of 820 km².

Imagine flying through ever-changing landscapes while stealing glances at flamingo-laden lakes, endless wheat fields, hoards of bulls and majestic herds of white Camarguais horses...

This cruise from Martigues to Lyon has plenty more gems to unveil. You just cannot miss Avignon and its famous bridge, the wonderful town of Beaujolais and its vineyards fields or the hanging houses in the Vercors Massif.
