Description

We'll leave from Arnhem by coach for the Het Loo Palace. Located in the gorgeous city of Apeldoorn, the Het Loo Palace is a 17-century castle that has been transformed into a museum. Built between 1684 and 1686 for stadtholder-king William III and Mary II of England, the palace was one of the residences of the House of Orange-Nassau until the death of Queen Wilhelmina in 1962. The furnished rooms and chambers demonstrate how the Oranges lived and worked here for over 300 years. The museum holds a fine collection of historical objects, paintings and clothes; the stables and coach house present a magnificent collection of royal carriages; and the gardens have been fully restored to the Baroque Dutch style in the time of the first residents. The entire grounds are a wonderful feast for the eyes. (Closed on Mondays).
