Starting today, let yourself be swept away by the enchantment of winter: the Strasbourg Christmas Market is officially open, transforming the city into a fairytale wonderland.
Wrap up in your gloves and hat, sip on a delicious mulled wine, and explore the Alsatian specialties that make this market truly unique. Follow the twinkling lights and the aroma of spices for a timeless holiday experience.
The market opens on Wednesday, November 26 at 2 p.m. and runs until Wednesday, December 24, 2025 at 6 p.m. The chalets are open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
For nearly a month, more than 300 chalets bring the city to life, offering a journey through crafts, gastronomy, solidarity, and pure wonder.
Here are the must-see spots to fully experience the Alsatian Christmas spirit:
The Christkindelsmärik is the historic heart of Christmas in Strasbourg. Located on Place Broglie, it has been held since 1570, making it one of the oldest Christmas markets in Europe.
Its name, “Market of the Baby Jesus”, reflects the deep-rooted traditions of Alsace.
The wooden chalets form a cozy village where craftsmanship takes center stage: carved wooden ornaments, traditional toys, sculpted candles, pottery, and other artisanal treasures passed down through generations.
Just behind the chalets, the Town Hall hosts an exhibition of archives that trace the fascinating history of this centuries-old market.
Food lovers are in for a treat: crispy bredeles, fragrant gingerbread, mulled wine with citrus notes, golden tartes flambées, steaming sauerkraut… every bite tells a story.
In the heart of Place Kléber, the Grand Sapin towers over the city with its majestic silhouette. At around 30 meters tall, it is one of the largest decorated natural Christmas trees in Europe.
Traditionally sourced from the Vosges forests, this year’s 2025 tree comes from Moselle and symbolizes Alsatian tradition, heritage, and pride.
On November 26 at 2 p.m., it will be lit for the first time, officially inaugurating the Christmas season. Then, every day from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., the tree will come alive in a spectacular display of lights and music, a magical moment eagerly awaited by young and old alike.
At the foot of the Grand Sapin stands the Village du Partage, the heart of the Christmas Market. Around a hundred associations showcase their humanitarian projects, social initiatives, and acts of solidarity in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
This is where you can taste the famous Soupe Étoilée: soups prepared by Michelin-starred chefs from Alsace, sold to raise money for charity. A simple gesture that warms the heart just as much as it warms the hands.
On Place Gutenberg, a ten-meter-high illuminated tree watches over visitors: the Blue Tree, the market’s poetic emblem.
Its bluish hues, soft glow, and mascot, the big blue bear, draw families, dreamers, and photography enthusiasts alike.
As night falls, the square is bathed in a magical halo, the perfect setting to pause, admire the lights, or enjoy a mulled wine while soaking in the enchantment of Strasbourg.
Created in 2016, the OFF Market is Strasbourg’s alternative and socially conscious Christmas market. Located in the heart of Petite France, it brings together participants from the social and solidarity economy.
Here you’ll find vintage furniture, second-hand clothing, responsibly made crafts, used toys, books, and organic or fair trade products.
The OFF Market also offers creative workshops, concerts, debates, and citizen cafés, making this space as much about reflection as it is about conviviality.
Here, Christmas is experienced differently: more responsibly, more sustainably, more humanely.
Just a stone’s throw from the cathedral, on the Terrasse du Palais Rohan and Place du Marché-aux-Poissons, the Alsace Christmas Delights Market is a paradise for food lovers.
Artisanal jams, creamy honeys, fragrant gingerbread, traditional mulled wines, Alsatian cakes, charcuterie, and sweet treats… this market offers a gourmet stroll through the heart of Alsatian culinary heritage. It’s perfect for finding delicious gifts or simply treating yourself.
On Square Louise Weiss, the "Irréductibles Petits Producteurs d’Alsace" showcase the local terroir in its most authentic form. Here, you can meet the producers themselves, passionate and proud to share their expertise.
Artisanal honeys, farm-fresh fruit juices, wines from small vineyards, Alsatian pasta, traditional terrines, handcrafted wooden objects…
Each stand tells a family story and preserves a piece of cultural heritage. A sincere, warm, and deeply human market.
Not far from the producers, in the same square, the Advent Village welcomes visitors of all ages in a gentle, family-friendly atmosphere.
Presented as a small enchanted hamlet, it offers free entertainment, creative workshops, storytelling sessions, encounters, and simple moments to share together.
It’s the perfect place to rediscover the magic of anticipation, the joy of slowing down… the true magic of Advent.
