Dawn of the Rhine: An Unforgettable Spectacle
The first light of day is undoubtedly the most enchanting time to experience the Rhine. As the sun rises, a veil of fog rolls over the river, intermittently concealing and revealing the majestic silhouettes of the 60 castles and fortresses that line its banks. Their towers and ramparts appear to float above the clouds, like a daydream. Birds sing softly in harmony with the first rays of sunlight caressing the river's calm waters, illuminating vineyards still damp with dew. It's a suspended moment when the Rhine transforms into a true fairytale setting. [Read the article]

As the unsung heroes ensuring cleanliness on board, cabin hosts and hostesses are vital to creating an exceptional cruise experience. You may have seen them in the corridors, quietly working to keep the ship pristine.
To share more about their role, we spoke with two of our dedicated team members.
Carla Magalhaes-Rangel, began her journey on the MS Michelangelo in 2015, joining the company through a friend who worked on one of the ships.
After a two-year break, she's now embarking on her eighth season in 2024.
Omar Thiongane is one of the few men in this position. He joined the company in late 2020, serving aboard the MS Renoir.
With a background in hospitality, Omar sought a fresh challenge and has enjoyed five years on board, thriving in the positive atmosphere. He says, "I get up in the morning, dress up, and put on my perfume, just like going to the office. The guest cabins are my office."
Quality #1: Cleanliness and Hygiene
Both are pleased to share that customers they encounter in the corridors or at the cabin door have complimented them on the impeccable cleanliness onboard. These heartwarming exchanges contribute to the satisfaction of a job well done. Whether it's Omar or Carla, they both emphasize a key aspect of their role: a commitment to cleanliness and hygiene. They also highlight essential skills such as efficiency, strong organizational abilities, and attention to detail, along with interpersonal skills that foster onboard cohesion: a positive attitude, a smile, understanding, and tolerance towards their colleagues.
Cabin Hosts and Hostesses
When they first began working as cabin crew, neither of them had a clear career plan. However, career progression is certainly possible. After two years on the job, Carla inquired about the possibility of transitioning into a waitress role. Her strong professional qualities impressed both the headwaiter and the purser, leading her to work as a waitress for three seasons. She was then offered a position as a barmaid on another boat for one season.
Today, Carla is undergoing training to become a purser on a barge.
There are also other career development opportunities within the company, such as advancing to roles with greater responsibility, like becoming a housekeeper.
Life on Board
Beyond work, both Omar and Carla emphasize the joy of travel, discovering new places, and meeting people from different backgrounds-whether they're guests or colleagues. These enriching experiences mean a lot to them, and during stopovers, they enjoy exploring new cities with their fellow crew members.
Omar highlights another unique aspect of life on board: "The crew is our second family. After work, we gather, talk, and often laugh together." He adds, "I've even missed life on board during my holidays. I love returning to the boat and working alongside my colleagues."
"This cruise was particularly pleasant and perfectly organized. Being directly at the places of interest without long bus transfers made it so convenient. All meals were served on board, which was relaxing and enjoyable. Having breakfast on the sun deck while entering the mouths of Kotor and dining under the moonlight were magical moments."
Geneviève B. aboard La Belle de l'Adriatique
"This was our first cruise, and we were amazed by everything: the scenery, the boat, the atmosphere, and the excursions tailored to passengers' capabilities. The friendliness of the staff was exceptional. We've made our friends and family envious-they're thinking of taking up cruising too! We'll definitely cruise again. Thank you for this wonderful experience."
Lise G., aboard MS Gérard Schmitter
"We were delighted with our first experience on La Belle des Océans, and we plan to repeat it on this same ship to explore another destination. From arrival to departure, the entire crew was excellent-professional, kind, helpful, and always available. Dining by the boat's pool while departing from Bonifacio is an unforgettable memory. We wholeheartedly recommend CroisiEurope to friends and family. CroisiEurope even went above and beyond to find us a return flight after our Easyjet flight was canceled. Many thanks again."
Olivier N., aboard La Belle des Océans
