You’ll begin your hike by climbing three successive hills: Forteca, Naplov, and Anton. Forteca, also known as Fort Wellington, was built on an old Venetian fortification in 1813. Naplov is a vast catchment area constructed in the 1950s. After a walk through the shady pines and a trail of cypress trees, you’ll arrive at Saint Anthony’s Church—a lovely chapel built in the 14th century to honor Anthony of Padua. The interior is sparse, with silence being its biggest draw. A sumptuous view of the sea and surrounding areas lies behind the church. To reach the church, you must climb 102 steps on a trail lined with cypress trees planted in 1708. We’ll return to the port in Korcula by coach.
