You’ll be transferred by coach to the tiny, tranquil village of Dol, located about 3 km (1.9 mi.) south of Stari Grad. Here, you’ll begin your trek through the beautiful forests along the hills up to Saint Nicholas—the highest peak on the island—where you’ll have a magnificent view of the coastline. To come back, you’ll wind your way through vineyards and olive groves to the town of Svirce. Legend has it the village's name comes from how the first settlers arrived. Dancing and singing along the way, shepherds from Vrbanj decided to stay put here for good. Svirče comes from svirati, meaning "to play music" in Croatian.
