Discover the Champagne Region on a barge cruise with your family

CroisiEurope invites you to embark aboard the Raymonde barge and sail along waterways from Paris to Châlons-en-Champagne. With only twenty-four passengers and six dedicated crew members, these barge cruises are perfect for every generation and an ideal way of sharing special moments as a family.

The Raymonde barge: comfortable environment with something for everyone

Everyone can enjoy the holiday at their own pace: the sun deck is an ideal spot to sit together and to share anecdotes; the Jacuzzi on the foredeck allows you to relax while cruising; the free use of bicycles provides a great way to enjoy the paths along the Marne canal; excursions downtown or in nature will delight every member of the family.

The Raymonde barge has all the comfort of home: the twelve twin-bed rooms on the lower deck have all a private shower room, television, internal telephone, safe and individual climate control and feature fixed-window river views; the main deck is equipped with a dining room, a well-stocked bar, an intimate lounge and an attractive outdoor terrace; the talented chef serves three delicious meals a day, a range of cocktails as well as the best wines in France; and lastly, the crew strives to satisfy your every need and makes you feel at home.

The Champagne Region

Châlons-en-Champagne, often called the “Sparkling Venice” is a city crisscrossed by canals. You will discover the historic center as you take an unusual cruise along the “Mau and Nau” canals passing through Le Petit Jard, a real oasis of greenery, and enjoying a special view of the Convent of Sainte Marie and the Church of Notre-Dame-en-Vaux. Various bridges dating back as far as 1560 will enliven the tour and a beautiful, harmonious blend of rich cultural heritage and luxurious nature will leave you amazed. At the end of the visit, a tasting of regional produce from the Champagne / Ardennes area will enchant food lovers.

An excursion to the Château Thierry comes next: with its esplanade measuring 280m long and 80m wide, the castle overlooks the city and the Marne Valley, offering fantastic views.

A “Town of Art and History” guided tour of Meaux will reveal a well-preserved episcopal city: from Meaux Cathedral to the Bishops’ Palace, passing the Gallo-Roman ramparts and the magnificent Bossuet Garden - traditionally believed to be an early work of Le Nôtre - you will discover interesting buildings in a wide range of architectural styles, incorporating medieval, Renaissance and classical.

A tour of Paris, the City of Lights, will bring you to some of the capital’s most important sites: the Place de la République, the Grands Boulevards, the Palais Garnier, the Madeleine Church, the Place Vendôme and the Louvre. Leaving from the Palais Royal, you will walk through the unique Parisian covered walkways - pedestrian shortcuts with a life all of their own within the heart of the bustling city.
