20 years of CroisiEurope on the Douro

CroisiEurope Cruises is thrilled to celebrate its 20th anniversary on the Douro River!

The Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its hills dotted with vineyards and its preserved nature, Port Wine and friendly locals, offers an authentic Iberian experience to all who visit.

Over the last 20 years CroisiEurope has provided guests with the perfect opportunity to discover Portugal’s cultural and culinary heritage onboard a Douro River cruise. A majestic river, the Douro originates in Spain where it follows its course to Portugal before flowing into the Atlantic Ocean.

Our fleet of river ships have been specially designed to navigate the “River of Gold,” ensuring a true all-inclusive and comfortable immersion along the Douro.

The MS Vasco de Gama was the first ship of the Portuguese river fleet to be developed in 2002, quickly joined by the MS Fernao de Magalhaes and MS Infante d. Henrique in 2003.

In 2015, the MS Gil Eanes was constructed with large cabin windows (French balconies) to appreciate the magnificent Portuguese landscapes. Its interior style is inspired by the turquoise azulejo tiles. The spirit of Portugal embraces you as you embark this beautiful ship.

In quick succession, the MS Miguel Torga was inaugurated in 2018, with its interior decorated with burgundy and blond wood that recalls the Port wine. Finally, in 2019 we designed the MS Amalia Rodrigues in homage to the famous Fado singer. As a tribute to the city of Lisbon, its terracotta and blonde wood interior that exudes the spirit of the South.

During these two decades, CroisiEurope has been delighted to offer cruises where comfort and conviviality are the order of the day. Since our beginnings on the Douro, we have not just updated our fleet, but we have also introduced several new itineraries, offering passengers an opportunity to experience even more of this incredible region. From the historic city of Porto, second largest in Portugal, to lesser known, but equally breathtaking villages along the river, and a full day excursion to the Spanish city of Salamanca, the region is sure to captivate you.

CroisiEurope would like to thank you for your loyalty over the past 20 years and we hope to see you on board very soon!
