CroisiEurope buys out Mekong river cruise company CFM

After chartering the RV Indochine for nearly four years, CroisiEurope’s acquisition of CFM adds four more ships to the company’s fleet in Cambodia and Vietnam.

6th March 2014 – As part of their continued development, CroisiEurope, Europe’s largest river cruising company, has announced the acquisition of “Compagnie Fluviale du Mékong,” or CFM to its English-speaking customers. CroisiEurope has chartered the RV Indochine from the company since 2011. Under the terms of the acquisition, the company’s will name “CFM by CroisiEurope.”

Through this acquisition, CroisiEurope will gain four new colonial-style ships that will cruise along the Mekong, between Cambodia and Vietnam. These vessels will continue to sail their original itineraries traveling between Siem Reap and Saigon, via Phnom Penh, from August to April. Two additional vessels are currently being constructed in Vietnam in order to further expand the fleet.

Highlights of these cruises include:

  • Discovering the Khmer temples at the site of Angkor, the seat of the Khmer Empire in Cambodia from the 9th to 15th centuries;
  • Cruising in 4-star luxury ships, completely paneled in tropical hardwood;
  • Visiting the bustling city of Saigon, the French-Colonial city of Phonom Penh and the local floating villages through the region;
  • Exploring Lake Tonle Sap and fish farms on the Mekong delta.

The expanded fleet includes:

The RV Indochine: 48 passengers with 24 cabins

The RV Lan Diep: 44 passengers with 22 cabins

The RV Tioum Tou 1: 20 passengers with 10 cabins

The RV Tioum Tou 2: 28 passengers with 14 cabins

These new additions will maintain the high standards of quality that have been, and will continue to be, the cornerstone to CroisiEurope’s success.

Beginning the next chapter in its history, Europe’s market leader in river cruising is widening its areas of expertise and operations with this expansion into Asia.
